Workshop on Equipping Machines and Factory Facilities for UL

Participants attending a workshop presentation

When it comes to UL standards, we always stay up to date. We regularly receive training directly from UL on new developments and changes to the UL 508A, UL 638A, and UL 1203 standards. Now we want to build a bridge between UL and our customers: On November 10, 2021, we’re hosting a workshop—in collaboration with German representatives from UL—that’s specifically tailored to our customers and free of charge for them. Anyone interested who isn’t yet a customer of ours is also welcome to attend.

We pay particular attention to the ambiguities and unresolved issues regarding the UL certification of machinery and factory equipment.

Since the number of participants is limited, if you’re interested, you’re welcome to sign up for a spot without obligation. Just send us a short email with the subject line “Workshop.”

Special Machine Safety Requirements in North America

There are several reasons for the increased space requirements in UL-compliant control cabinets, stemming from the different electrical systems and, consequently, the different regulations in Europe and North America. While IEC standards and EU directives apply to control cabinet construction in Europe, the strict UL standards are the governing authority in the U.S., and the CSA standards in Canada. UL and CSA have reached an agreement to recognize each other’s standards, at least through 2022. However, both are far from meeting EU standards. There are significant differences in the regulations governing control cabinet construction.

Who is UL?

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) was founded in Chicago in 1894. Its mission is to develop standards and procedures for safety testing of products and components for the North American market. In addition, it conducts these safety tests itself, certifies products and components, and affixes the UL mark to them. Once a product or component has successfully completed the certification process, it meets the standards for the North American and Canadian markets and can be put into service without further on-site testing.

Exclusive workshops for customers, available only at Krayer

We have been working closely with UL for many years. We stay up to date on new developments and changes to applicable norms and standards, undergo certification processes, and have thus become our own certification body for the control cabinets we manufacture. Now we are taking it a step further and, in collaboration with UL, are conducting workshops for our customers to ensure that machines and systems can be exported to North America and Canada as smoothly as possible.

We look forward to your participation!
