Our Services as a UL 1203 Specialist
The UL 1203 standard describes the guidelines for the safety of control panels for hazardous locations (HazLoc) according to Articles 500-505 of the NEC, NFPA 70, which are
placed in Classes I, II, and III, Divisions 1 and 2
Class 1, Zone 0, 1 and 2
Groups IIA, IIB and IIC.
It contains technical requirements necessary for electrical equipment to be marked as “explosion-proof” and “dust-ignition-proof.”
Control panels must be designed to prevent the formation of arcing parts and to withstand elevated temperatures, as under no circumstances may an ignition source arise or penetrate into the Ex-area, i.e., the hazardous location. The design is carried out according to one of the protection methods approved by NEC for electrical equipment in hazardous locations.

Since 1989, we have been developing, designing, and building control panels for use in North America in Spraitbach near Schwäbisch Gmünd. In spring 2020, we underwent arguably the most demanding and stringent UL certification in the control panel sector: certification for the HazLoc area. Since then, we have also been authorized to manufacture and certify control panels according to UL 698A and UL 1203. These control panels are then used in hazardous locations or in areas that have a connection to hazardous locations.
Our customers come from a wide variety of industries and also place very different demands on their control panels in HazLoc areas.
