To speed up the manufacturing process and shorten delivery times, Krayer expanded its machine fleet in October 2020 with a Perforex BC BC 1008 machining center from Rittal. All mechanical machining steps involved in the assembly of a control cabinet—such as drilling, thread cutting, or milling—can now be completed in a single operation. “This saves an enormous amount of time,” says Benedikt Krayer, who, as technical director ,oversaw the commissioning of the new Perforex. “Tasks that used to take us many hours can now be completed in just a few minutes.”For KRAYER, however, a faster manufacturing process not only means time savings in the assembly of control cabinets but also enables an increase in production volumes. This is an important factor that customers appreciate because it shortens delivery times.
Fully automated processing prevents errors
The Perforex machining center can be used for flat parts and enclosures made of all machinable materials, such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and plastic. Clampable enclosure panels up to 2450 x 1600 mm and clampable cubic parts up to 1600 x 2200 x 2200 mm can be clamped and machined in the machine. To ensure optimal utilization, KRAYER activates the “ProPanel” software tool—an extension module of the EPLAN CAE system—during the design process and first generates a digital twin of the control cabinet. The Perforex machining center then receives the resulting mechanical machining data via the network. Whereas manual machining of enclosure parts used to be error-prone—and ensuring KRAYER’s high quality standards was therefore time- and cost-intensive—the machining processes in the Perforex machine are now fully automated. This enables not only fast but also precise and reliable production. “With the new Perforex, the manufacturing process becomes significantly faster and more flexible, and the machining quality remains consistently high. In addition, we can respond to individual customer needs even more quickly than before. This is another important step toward solidifying our claim to be the ‘1st Choice in UL,’“ says Managing Director Werner Krayer, summarizing the benefits that the fully automated Perforex offers to KRAYER and its customers.
